The short necked, bulbous “little pitchers” were standard forms after the 1670’s. Later, in Connecticut, this distinct shape was made, influenced by the German and Dutch potteries found in Pennsylvania and New York. My creamers are 4 inches in height to match my sugar jars.

No fooling, this is a truly 19th century pot. David Mandeville was a potter in Orange County, NY from 1830-1840 and this pot was attributed to him. I recently purchased a mug with the same “rope twist” handles from that area. These jars are 4 inches tall.
