It has been said that the height of the 18th century mugs were twice their width; 19th century mugs are wider and lower. My use of double beading at the base and a bead at the rim, is copied from a tavern mug made in Massachusetts in the 1780’s and probably are quite suitable for the 19th century. My mugs are made to hold 6, 8 and 12 ounces of libations.
