The use of a simple clear-glaze, over the clay, is the most commonly found on utilitarian redware. Due to the way the iron oxide reacted to the temperature and atmosphere in the kiln, the same glaze could vary in color from orange to salmon, to red, to brown, to black, black-green or green with orange dots.
