The chicken and rooster are interesting themes in North American folk pottery and in many countries around the world. I have located a dozen examples in my resources and continue to find more. The body is thrown on the wheel and the handle, head and tail are attached when the clay is firm. Most of them were made as banks but I decided to make my fowl into little pitchers too.
